Cadavre Exquis (exquisite corpse) is a collaborative drawing approach, first used by surrealist artists to create bizarre and intuitive drawings through redevelopment and iteration. Working alongside colleague Marteen Jimenez, our approach was guided by these principles, beginning with a primitive shape and developing it through ten iterations over multiple weeks, during the beginning stages of COVID-19’s quarantine. The responsibility of form manipulation progressed off the previous iteration. As a result, these forms act as journal entries that reflect, or contrast completely from the original primitive, depending on your perspective. 

 

The workflow of the Exquisite Corpse Project was also reflected in our editing process. The post production of the video was an opportunity for one person to edit according to their ideas; sending their work to the other for color and lighting modifications. The combined totality of forms is a final product of our process
